Why restoration helps

Clear lenses can lose their finish over time.

Sun and weather can leave plastic headlight lenses hazy, yellowed, or dull. When deterioration is limited to the exterior, restoration may refresh the lens without replacing the complete assembly.

Common exterior signs

  • Cloudy or hazy lenses
  • Yellowed exterior surfaces
  • A dull or weathered appearance

Clearer lenses, cleaner appearance

Reducing eligible haze and yellowing can refresh the appearance of the lenses and vehicle.

Restore or replace?

Restore the lens when the rest of the assembly is still sound.

A complete headlight assembly may contain the exterior lens, housing, seals, reflectors or projectors, adjusters, lighting components, and electronics. Replacement costs can vary widely by vehicle.

When the problem is confined to an eligible exterior lens, restoration may preserve the original assembly and avoid replacing components that are still working.

Restoration may be appropriate

The exterior lens is the problem.

  • Exterior haze, yellowing, or oxidation
  • A weathered but structurally sound lens
  • Working bulbs or lighting components
  • An intact housing and mounting points
  • No persistent internal water intrusion
  • Enough sound lens material to restore

Repair or replacement may be needed

The assembly has another problem.

  • Cracked or broken lenses and housings
  • Standing water or persistent interior condensation
  • Failed seals or damaged mounting points
  • Internal haze or damaged reflectors
  • Bulb, wiring, ballast, module, or electrical problems
  • Severe deterioration that cannot be restored responsibly
  • A lens that remains rough or cloudy after previous restorations

If exterior restoration is not appropriate for your headlights, we will explain that before work begins.
